Yes, old teeth can be whitened, to some extent. Tooth whitening procedures, such as professional bleaching with peroxide are not recommended.
Peroxide can cause sensitivity to teeth and gums. That is why I created an Botanical Tooth Whitening Process. Teeth get yellow or dark and my process (in office or at home) will clean up old stains and brighten your teeth.
However, it's important to note that the effectiveness of tooth whitening may vary depending on the individual and the severity of the discoloration. It's also worth mentioning that as we age, the natural color of our teeth may change due to factors such as thinning enamel, exposure to staining substances, and the natural darkening of dentin (the layer beneath the enamel).
In some cases, tooth whitening may not be able to restore the teeth to their original shade, but it can still help improve their appearance. If you're considering whitening your teeth, it‘s recommended to consult with a dental professional, such as myself.
Take a picture of your teeth (smile) and I will make some recommendations. I can assess the condition of your teeth, discuss your goals, and recommend the most suitable whitening option.
